ANNOUNCING….SIXTEEN YEAR
OLDS CAN NOW DONATE |

New legislation signed into law on
May 6, 2009 by Gov. Jon S. Corzine lowered the legal age to donate blood
to 16 with parent/guardian consent. The Blood Center of New Jersey will
be accepting blood donations from 16 year olds beginning October 1, 2009
with parent/guardian consent.
To be eligible to donate blood,
individuals who are 16 years old must be in general good health, weigh 120
pounds, and have consent form signed by their parent or guardian.
Consent forms are located here on
our website and at blood drives. Sixteen year olds who are donating at
high school blood drives, must have their consent forms signed and
returned to the blood drive chairperson the day prior to the blood drive.
