Here you can enter your birth date or any other date after 1900 and see what was going on then.  (Be forewarned that the prices of things will depress you)

Need to set your watch ( so you're not late for the blood drive )?  Who better to ask than the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and its military counterpart, the U. S. Naval Observatory (USNO).
